Welcome to Reading Swimming Club

Reading Swimming Club (RSC) is one of the UK’s oldest and most successful swimming clubs, formed in 1885 and affiliated with Swim England South East and Berkshire & South Buckinghamshire ASA.

We offer a structured pathway from Learn to Swim to competitive and Masters swimming, with expert coaching, regular competition opportunities, and a strong focus on swimmer development at all levels. Whether your child is a complete beginner or you’re an adult looking to return to the sport, RSC offers an inclusive, high-quality experience.

We also host a thriving Water Polo section, based out of Eton, providing further opportunities for aquatic sport enthusiasts.

140 Years of History

Our Mission

Founded in 1885, Reading Swimming Club first met at the Corporation’s open-air pools at King’s Meadow in East Reading. In 1912, the club moved to the Arthur Hill Memorial Baths on Kings Road — Reading’s flagship indoor facility at the time. By 1967, RSC began training at the Reading Central Pool, allowing year-round development for competitive swimmers.

Milestones That Shaped Us

  • 1885 — Reading Swimming Club is born at King’s Meadow open-air      pools
  • 1912 — Moves to the newly built Arthur Hill Memorial Baths
  • 1967 — Begins training at the modern Reading Central Pool
  • 2018 — Central pool Shutsdown in 2017 , training continues Rivermead, Bradfield      College, Crosfields School, South Reading LC, Palmer Park LC, and the  Aldershot Garrison      Olympic Pool (Long Course) at Aldershot.
  • 2024 — Opens a new chapter at our state-of-the-art short course      home at Rivermead Leisure Centre, continuing elite training across      our trusted partner pools

Our legacy is built on passion, community, and a relentless commitment to the development of swimming in Reading.
