Reading Swimming Club is a volunteer-led club and we simply wouldn’t exist without the dedication of our volunteers. From timekeepers and team managers to committee members and gala organisers, every session, event, and swimmer’s success is powered by people like you.
Volunteering isn’t optional, it’s essential!
Whether you have a little time or a lot, your support makes a huge impact. Volunteering is a great way to meet other parents, support your swimmer, and keep the club running smoothly and sustainably.

Act as liaison between parents, coaches, and committee for a specific squad.
Supervise swimmers at meets, manage logistics, and support coaches. (Training & DBS provided.)
Parent volunteers turned race-day heroes ensuring fair play and fun for every swimmer.
Help run home galas. From marshalling to announcing, awards, setup, and more.
Manage raffles, ticket sales, or hospitality to help raise essential club funds.
Part of the core team that steers the club forward, ensuring it serves swimmers, families, and the wider community
Organise swimmers before races – key to meet flow.
Keep the event on track with commentary and updates.
Responsible for running & management of the timing equipment and recording during the gala.
Runners collect time sheets, DQ slips, and other paperwork from officials and deliver them promptly to the results desk or announcer.
Responsible for setup & Provide refreshments to officials and volunteers
Assist with equipment, signage, and layout before and after meets.
Prepare and distribute swimmer awards.
Welcome guests and manage check-in.
Organise and promote raffles to support club fundraising.
Swimming competitions can’t run without trained officials. From timekeepers to judges and referees, officials are essential — and they’re volunteers too!
At RSC, we’re growing our calendar of hosted events and need more club-trained officials to make these meets possible. No officials means no races. It’s that simple.
Judge Level 1:
Timekeeper, chief timekeeper, turns, and finishes. (Training & mentoring provided.)
Judge Level 2:
Monitor stroke, assist Level 1 with turns, record finish order. (Training & mentoring provided.)
Starter:
Ensure fair race starts; may also record finish order.
Referee:
Oversee meet operations and fairness
